I am an educator and photographer based in Athens and the United States. My formative years were spent in Greece, but for all my adulthood I have lived and worked in the United States, both in the editorial and academic fields. Because of my hybrid background, I view the world and my surrounding environs from two different perspectives, both culturally and socially. Through my photography, I aim to comment on this cultural and social dichotomy while simultaneously I strive to explore the histories, values, myths, and psychologies of the American and Greek social landscapes.
My career started as a newspaper photographer, first as a freelancer at The Times Leader, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and then as a staff photographer for Gannett Newspapers in Ohio, The Watertown Daily Times in Watertown New York, and have been a contributor for The New York Times. I have taught at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Marywood University, and the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania and I am also the Co-Founder of the Rust Belt Biennial.
